Cascade Consulting were commissioned by Affinity (Ex Veolia) Water to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment to determine the route of a new water main from Denge Water Treatment Works to St Mary’s Bay. The Dungeness headland in which the Denge Water Treatment Works and the proposed pipeline routes are located is highly sensitive and a number of habitats and species there are afforded protection at a national and international level.
This project involved a Habitats Regulations Assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment and Construction Management Plan. Extensive liaison was undertaken with Natural England on the design and implementation of the works, including innovative use of existing structures, to avoid adverse effects on the integrity of Natura 2000 sites.
